– The State used the same methods as 10 years ago after the events of « Ploscha-2010», when political opponents were first convicted, after which the persecution of those who defended their rights began, – the lawyer of the human rights center «Vesna» Alexey Loiko comments on the situation. – Such measures against lawyers violate the right to a defense in the face of increasing repression.
The human rights community would inform international human rights organizations of the situation and demand that the Belarusian authorities fulfill their international human rights obligations.
