{"id":27951,"date":"2020-09-30T16:35:38","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T13:35:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rada.vision\/zayavlenie-koordinacionnogo-soveta-o-davlenii-na-smi"},"modified":"2020-12-01T13:06:51","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T10:06:51","slug":"statement-of-the-coordination-council-regarding-the-pressure-on-the-mass-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rada.vision\/en\/statement-of-the-coordination-council-regarding-the-pressure-on-the-mass-media","title":{"rendered":"Statement of the Coordination Council regarding the pressure on the mass media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Order of the Ministry of Information on suspension of the mass media status of the largest independent information portal TUT.by is another outrageous example of lawlessness in Belarus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of Information continues to exceed its authority and limit the activities of the leading independent mass media thus violating the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, which stipulate the right of the citizens to receive, keep and distribute full, reliable and timely information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>In line with Art. 4 of the Constitution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> democracy in Belarus shall be exercised based on diversity of political institutions, ideologies and opinions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is impossible to exercise the freedom of speech and opinion under the constant pressure and censorship by the governmental institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the Constitution monopolisation of the mass media by the state, public associations or single individuals is prohibited, as well as censorship. <\/span><b>At the same time, the Ministry of Information does not react to the propaganda and explicit substitution of facts and notions. This practice has become the norm for the state-owned media, which, unlike the independent media, is financed by the taxpayers.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>We demand immediately:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cancel the order of the Ministry of Information and stop pressure on the tut.by editorial office, which has the absolute support and trust of all the Belarusian citizens.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stop persecution of journalists while they exercise their professional duties.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stop unlawful termination of employment at the state-owned media of those who want to do their jobs in accordance with the main Law of the Republic of Belarus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct a large-scale inspection of the state-owned media on all the cases of misinformation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pressure on the independent media continues. Unfortunately, in our country, the indicator of the quality of work is the degree of repressions against those who do their jobs professionally. And being a journalist has even become life-threatening in Belarus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We thank the tut.by journalists and all the independent media for all their work, during which they put themselves in danger and at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We want to hear and see the truth!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will follow our path to victory together!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Order of the Ministry of Information on suspension of the mass media status of the largest independent information portal TUT.by is another outrageous example of lawlessness in Belarus.
