An Initiative of the Coordination Council “Za delo” collects information on cases of pressure on business in different regions of Belarus in order to create a base of violations for further investigation of cases. Most of the applied businesses (45%) are from Minsk and the Minsk region, then from the Grodno and Brest regions.

Typical stories start with unscheduled inspections from all possible supervisors, which end up with orders to close the business and maximum fines. On average, penalties are 200-300 basic units. For a small business in the region, this actually means closure, due to the owners being unable to pay unending fines.
